Stereoscope Journey - 3D Presentation

8396 Main, Interlaken, N.Y.  Monday, January 28, 2019 7:00 pm

At the turn of the Century, our Finger Lakes captured the attention of 3D photographers both local and from abroad.  Practical photography was still in its infancy as the stereographic (3D) craze swept through Europe leading to a mass production of world travel images. Although inspired by the  commercial photographer who focused on the grand scene, it was the small town U.S. purveyors who would capture scenes of local daily life. Modern day historians can be thankful for their efforts.

Stereographic artist Diego Ruiz has been diligently working to apply the techniques of yesteryear and his own experimental techniques to capture light across the continent with special attention to Central New York.  Join us for a 3D viewing of the Finger Lakes of the 1800s and Diego’s modern work, with four 3D books of our region.  Bring a friend!  We’ll discuss the process and development of this Victorian art form as it applies to our beloved Finger Lakes and the people who make this region so special.

The meeting will be held in the meeting room of the Interlaken Masonic Hall, 8396 Main Street, Interlaken, located above Hubbard Heating and Plumbing.

The building is handicapped accessible. Refreshments will be served. In the event the school cancels after-school activities, check the Facebook page for updates, or call 607-280-2099.
